Just because we’re still in the midst of a global pandemic doesn’t mean that birthdays can’t be moments of joy and celebration for you child. While the classic quarantine birthday party generally involves an awkward Zoom call with friends and family from near and far, there are lots of fun ways to level up your child’s socially distant birthday party. Here are some extra fun ways to celebrate birthdays for kids of all ages.
Looking for a fun and interactive way to get the party kids moving? Setting up a virtual scavenger hunt is simple. Put together a list of 7-10 everyday items that happen to be favorites of the birthday kid like a soccer ball, a favorite stuffy, a snack, a good luck charm, and an object related to their favorite animal.
Read the list of items to the party guests and have them try to memorize as many items as they can. Set a timer for 5 minutes (we recommend turning on some upbeat music) and invite the kids to run around the house looking for as many items as they can remember. When the music stops, have the kids return to tally up their points.
To add some sweetness to a regular Zoom birthday party, invite all the guests to come with a sweet treat that can be decorated or embellished by each kid party guest. Kids can come with a cookie, cupcake, cracker or even a bowl of ice cream and a variety of embellishments and decorations including icing, candies, nuts, chocolate sauce and more.
Give kids a few minutes to decorate their sweet treat and invite each child to share their creation with the group. Afterwards, it’s time to sing happy birthday with the group and invite the birthday kid to make a wish and blow out their candles
