10 Phrases to Boost Your Child’s Confidence
By Supernow HQ
As parents, we have the unique opportunity to build confidence and self-esteem in our child - two qualities very important for a child’s health and development. With a healthy self esteem your child will undoubtedly flourish.
In a time when your child is being pushed to develop academic skills from a younger age in life, yet little focus is being placed on their social or emotional growth, children can be left struggling with the confidence to put their intellectual skills to use.
So, as parent we should be focusing on building healthy confidence and self esteem in our children, before anything else.
To help you do so, we’ve put together our favorite phrases to inspire confidence in your child:
Positive affirmations are really powerful for both adults and children. They can completely rewire the way your child thinks. If taught to use these from an early age it will not only benefit them then, but also as an adult.
As a parent, you know what your child is capable of - let your words mirror your belief and tell them every day.
You know their capabilities, AND you know their skills. Hearing your vote of confidence will give them that extra boost they need to succeed.
Even when we notice things or qualities about our children, it's also important to recognize them out loud. Tell them when they are being brave. Once they see and hear you noticing when they’re brave, they’ll begin to notice it in themselves also.
Sometimes your child will struggle with a task and they need to know that it’s okay to find it hard, but that they can overcome it in the end. It will also give them confidence for the next time they tackle something that they find difficult.
When you communicate your faith in your child as a parent, it will automatically inspire it within themselves
Show and tell your child that your love for them is unconditional. That no matter what the outcome of any situation, you will always love them.
If your child is truly stuck doing something, you can always help them. It's important to let them know that the option of help is there.
Everybody needs to know that they are enough just the way they are. No matter what.
You can NEVER tell this to your child enough.
